Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua
Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua now says Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata should be honored over his Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) letter to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
In the letter, the soft-spoken lawmaker had dimmed the prospects of BBI succeeding in the Mount Kenya region as it was unpopular.
Taking to his Facebook on Tuesday, January 5, the governor argued that Kang’ata had ‘rescued’ the report by vocalising its underlying concerns, therefore, action will be taken.
“By speaking about the challenges as he sees them, he has issued a call to arms which has now made the BBI issue and its success, especially in the Mt. Kenya region, an issue of debate and hopefully, action,” said Mutua.
The Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader said Kang’ata’s letter draws attention to a number of issues including whether there is a communication breakdown in the head of states political organisation.
However, the Machakos boss expressed reservations on the intention of the letter saying it might be a political game initiated by President Kenyatta.
Mutua concluded by saying the Senate majority whip who was unavailable on phone had made him proud and he will honour him by buying him a drink.
