Kenyan comedian and TV host Vincent Mwasia, popularly known as Chipukeezy has found himself in trouble after social media users questioned his recent claim that he had graduated from the Mount Kenya University (MKU) with a degree.
The former Kiss 100 radio presenter and active NACADA Board member posted a picture of himself in a gown, posing next to the university’s main gate; captioning the photo “Finally 🎉”.

While he expected hundreds of congratulatory messages from his followers, Chipukeezy was met by a rather rude shock. Mount Kenya University students flooded the comments section, all discrediting his post and alleging they had never seen him in class before.
This prompted “online detectives” to dig a little deeper and in an attempt to find some clarity on the matter.
A search through Mount Kenya University’s graduation list for Vincent Mwasia’s name soon began, and lo and behold, it was nowhere to be found!
Some netizens who still weren’t convinced suggested that a search with a differently spelt name be made.
Just to clear any doubt, the results were still negative.
Acquisition of fake academic papers is not something new in Kenya. For many years now, politicians and businessmen have been “graduating” with various degrees from some of the most prestigious universities.
It is common knowledge that with the right amount of money and the right contacts, that Bs. in Plant Ecology will be on your resume in no time; and from the look of things, this is clearly Vincent Mwasia’s case. He has been caught pants down.
Next time he will definitely be careful when flaunting his achievements (real or not) online.
He is yet to comment on the matter.
