Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko
It seems like Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s goose is already cooked at the Senate after a plan to nail him was unveiled.
Nairobi MCAs driving his impeachment agenda, while speaking to the press on Tuesday, December 9, disclosed that a concrete plan to nail the governor was already in motion.
Leading the pack, Majority Leader Abdi Guyo revealed that a fierce legal team lead by had been constituted to present the evidence to the Senate.
He further noted that he was working closely with his minority counterpart and they were confident that the Senate Committee would fully agree with the decision made by the county assembly.
“We are fully prepared and good to go to present our evidence before the Senate.
“We are 100 per cent sure that the Senate will agree with us and save Nairobi residents from an inefficient and incapable governor,” stated the Matopeni MCA.
His sentiments were echoed by Minority Leader Michael Ogada who confirmed that evidence was ready to be presented.
“We are ready to face the Senate to prosecute our case and show why we sent Sonko home. We have evidence and we are confident that they will uphold our resolution,” stated Ogada.
Guyo also noted that the new evidence would lay out the voting procedure disputing Sonko’s claim that some MCAs were impersonated in the process.
Sonko was impeached on Thursday, December 3, after a total of 88 MCAs out of 122 voted to kick him out of office.
He was impeached over allegations of gross misconduct and abuse of office.
