A Nigerian priest has shocked many after kidnapping himself in a bid to cash in millions from his own church members.
The priest identified as Peter Adegoke kidnapped himself and started demanding a ransom of 840,000 shillings from his family and church members. He had been missing in action for more than 5 days.
However, he had stage managed the kidnap together with his two other colleagues. He was apparently living large in one of the city hotels in Nigeria for the entire period he had gone missing.
It is alleged that he sent several texts and calls to church members and family to immediately send the ransom of close to one million shillings or else he would be killed.
The distressing calls and texts prompted the priest’s family members to seek help from the police who promptly swang into action.
The calls were traced to a city hotel where the priest was nabbed while enjoying himself together with his accomplices. He was arrested and is currently in police custody awaiting trial.
