Sergeant Kipyegon Kenei: An Administration Police officer – Security of Government Buildings (SGB)
This evening, an Administration Police officer attached to Deputy President William Ruto’s Harambee House Annex office was found dead at an estate in Imara Daima area, Nairobi.
The officer, who was on duty the day ex-Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa visited the DP’s office in the company of two foreigners in the fake Ksh. 39 billion military equipment deal, is alleged to have shot himself.
Witnesses on scene said the deceased had a bullet wound on the head.
The cop was the only remaining officer out of the five who were on duty when Echesa was arrested outside Harambee House Annex who had not been questioned by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in regards with the firearms scam.
According to Ruto’s Communication Secretary, the officer had not reported to work since Wednesday – February 19 – the day he was scheduled to appear before the DCI and a search for him had since been launched before the shocking incident happened.
A police officer has since further intimated that the AP also left behind a suicide note where he requested anyone who would discover his corpse to call a cousin of his only identified as Ben and also his brother.

“Call my cousin Ben and brother,” read the suicide note in part.
According to the OB from Embakasi Division police station, the incident was reported by Charles Ng’ang’a, a resident of Villa Franca Estate.
Humanly instincts told him all was not well after a foul smell coming from his neighbor’s house caught his attention.
The 33-year-old Kipyegon was lying dead on the floor with a bullet wound which had entered through the chin and exited through the head. It also hit the ceiling of the said house.
Embattled former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa was arrested on February 13, following a raid by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations over a fake military equipment tender, with meetings claimed to have been conducted at Ruto’s Harambee House Annex office.
