In early July, Betting Control and Licensing Board(BCLB) froze paybills of some betting companies with claims that they were not tax compliant. Betway betting company was one of them. It has however resumed its operations following clearance by the Kenya Revenue Authority(KRA).
A brief twitter post read that the company’s license was reinstated by the Betting Control and Licensing Board on 23rd July but they could not operate without clearance from KRA.
“We’re back online. We’re fully operational. 20% Winnings Tax will be deducted off all sport betting payouts. Our paybill number remains the same,” read their tweet.
Other companies that were affected by the ban include Mozolt Bet, Odi bet, Eastleigh bet, Lucky to you, Ken book makers, Bet boss, Kick off, Easi bet and Palms bet. Betpawa, Betin and Sportpesa are yet to meet BCLB’s requirements.
