According to a police report filed by the bank’s branch manager, the five stormed into the banking hall wielding a homemade gun, hammer, knives and a panga; and took hostage the nine staff members on duty.

It is estimated that KSh 2.3 million was stolen in the robbery.
A bank teller who sustained injuries after being hit with a hammer has been treated and discharged.
