A battery explosion at Likoni ferry sent passengers fleeing for their lives as panic sparked a chaotic scramble.
It is reported that a faulty phone battery burst into flames among the passengers on board MV Harambee. The male passenger quickly threw it into the water to avoid any more danger.
The victim sustained minor bruises on the left arm wrist. MV Harambee hit docking ramp and got stuck for about 30 minutes yesterday morning which caused disruption of services as Kenya Ferry Services (KFS) officials made frantic efforts to tow the vessel from the ramp.
This incident comes barely a month after the death of Mariam Kighenda and her daughter Amanda Mutheu who drowned after their vehicle slipped off the ferry and plunged into the sea.
