Immediate Rift Valley Commissioner George Natembeya has fired back at Elegeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen for attacking him over his legacy while serving in government.
Murkomen a fortnight ago attacked Natembeya accusing him of dividing and polarizing communities.
He said the former RC failed terribly on his mandate and went on to urge Trans Nzoia residents to shoot down his governor seat ambitions.
In rejoinder, Natembeya has dismissed Murkomen’s assessment of his record saying he is never in the ground to understand what affects a majority of the people.
“Murkomen has no right to appraise me, I’m appraised by the people. For the last two & a half years I have been in the RC-Rift Valley I have gone to Elgeyo-Marakwet County more than he has,” he said.
The former RC went on to reveal that they fell out with Murkomen when the politician attempted to bully him during the Mau evictions.
Natembeya said the Senator is full of ego and was trying to force his way on issues not knowing that he was discharging the government’s mandate.
“He is a malicious guy, I had a run-in with him when dealing with the issue of Mau forest. He came with a bloated ego, they are used to bullying Civil Servants.
“He came and found a rock there, he hit, got hurt and went back to Nairobi. He has never forgiven me,” he added.
Surprisingly, Natembeya urged Murkomen to continue attacking him in rallies saying it is because of the verbal attacks that he rose ranks from a county commissioner to the Rift Valley RC.
He said the more he speaks about him the more the people endear themselves to him.
“Murkomen’s mouth has been a blessing to me, he basically made me. I would like him to Trans Nzoia more and speak the way he has been speaking
“The more he opens his mouth the more people love me. In fact, he made me become a regional Commissioner. He brought focus to me,” Natembeya said.
The former RC is eyeing the Trans Nzoia governor seat in the August 9, elections.
