ANC Leader Musalia Mudavdi has claimed that a top government official offered to rig the August 9, 2022, general election in favour of the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) if they had remained together.
Mudavadi who was addressing members of the public in Kabarnet, Baringo County on Sunday, February 13, 2022, stated that the unnamed government official assured to create a backroom IEBC that would be employed to rig the elections.
“I was somewhere with Moses Wetangula, Kalonzo Musyoka and Gideon Moi. Someone in the government approached us and said they had the capacity to create a backroom IEBC if we can be together
“I want to say this, we do not want a backroom IEBC. Kenyans must be given their due constitutional right. Their decisions to vote for whoever they choose must be respected, honored and must be upheld so that Kenya can be stable and democracy can be our guide,” he said.
The ANC leader proceeded to issue a warning against interfering with the August general elections and the will of the people.
“If they push us further, we shall name who said that thing. Today we just give you a warning shot, that don’t attempt to create a backroom IEBC, let there be one IEBC, the one that is provided for in the law and none other,” Mudavadi warned.
The ANC leader’s sentiments come a few days after Murang’a County Woman Representative Sabina Chege alluded to a plot to rig the elections in favour of ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Chege had dismissed claims by Deputy President William Ruto that Azimio La Umoja was planning to rig the elections. The Woman Rep claimed that DP Ruto os aware of how Jubilee got to power.
“In Central, I have heard them saying that we stole the elections. There is some truth in that. They should know that if we knew how to steal in the previous elections, what makes you think we will not do something,” the Women Rep said.
