Narc-Kenya party leader Martha Karua has stated that the public spat between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto is ugly for the country.
Speaking during an interview, Karua stated that Kenyatta and Ruto were disrespecting their voters who voted for them.
“Bringing their wars to the public arena is disrespectful to us, the voters. As leaders, they must look for a way to have minimum conditions for working together, if not, the government should resign and we get new leadership
“So long as they continue to carry the flag of the presidency, they must in their public conduct and utterances honor the offices they hold and Kenyans. It is total disrespect to have that sort of exchange,” Karua stated.
Karua mentioned that such exchanges bring tension to the country which she termed unnecessary.
President Kenyatta and his deputy Ruto have been involved in an exchange of words in the last two days.
The Head of State hit out at his deputy Ruto accusing him of politicking instead of working.
“I do not have an issue with anyone’s ambition. I had only told them that there is time for everything. Time for politics and time to do the work. They chose politics from morning to evening,” Uhuru said.
“Kazi haifanywi juu ya magari, hi kazi ya kupepeta uongo juu ya magari kwa mikutano tuache,” Uhuru said.
In a rejoinder, DP Ruto said that he took part in each and every project that became a success in the Jubilee administration.
“Jubilee government was a project between me and my friend President Uhuru Kenyatta. You cannot deny me credit for many projects that we have achieved together. Anybody imagining that they can deny me credit is wasting their time,” DP Ruto affirmed.
On Uhuru announcing his entry into politics, he said;
“I am ready for that contest, bring it on”.
