A magistrate from one of Uganda’s local courts was left speechless after a suspect on trial appeared in court wearing clothes which had been stolen from him.
The suspect had been in remand for six months for allegedly stealing sim sim from someones house. He was later released after the complainant failed to attend court proceedings on the matter.
However, just a day after being set free, the suspect broke into the magistrate’s house and stole clothes and other items.
He was re-arrested after 2 days following a tip off from members of the public who spotted him hiding in a bush, just close to the magistrate’s house.
The 34 year old man was arraigned in court but the ruling failed to take place as the magistrate suffered from shock on noticing the suspect was wearing clothes that had just been stolen from him.
The hearing was adjourned for a week to allow the magistrate to recover from shock.
