Ex-Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko
Details have leaked of how the government might impose a handshake candidate in Nairobi next year to replace former Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko.
Mike Sonko was impeached last week on what he called a ‘political witch hunt’ after Senators upheld the move by Nairobi County Assembly.
“As we usher this festive season to celebrate the birth of Jesus I wish to encourage you all to extend your generosity & kindness to your neighbours & community. As Mother Teresa once said, “It’s not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving.” Mungu awabariki nyote,” Sonko shared a video wearing Santa Clause attire and distributing food.

With County Assembly Speaker Benson Mutura gets ready to be sworn as acting Governor on Monday, The Star digital strategist Oliver Mathenge has revealed that there is a plan underway to have someone nominated for Nairobi top seat.
“Plans underway not to have a by-election in Nairobi by ensuring only one candidate is nominated for next year’s mini poll for Governor,” he tweeted.

If this is adopted, that means those interested will suffer for not being able to vie for the coveted seat and will be at the mercies of the nominating body.
