Lawyer Chege Kirundi ( Center ) ,Tob Cohen’s Sister ( Right ) During The Opening Of The Will
Earlier today Lawyer Chege Kirundi unveiled Tob Cohen‘s sealed will and confirmed it has not been tampered with at his office ,Bruce House Nairobi . In attendance was Cohen’s Sister and her husband .
Through her laywer Philip Murgor ,Sarah Wairimu said she won’t attend the opening of the will claiming that contents of the will have been “severely compromised.”
She alleged that a recent newspaper article that claimed Tob Cohen left to his sister a Ksh.400 million villa in Nairobi casts doubt on the legitimacy of the will.
“It is evident that the confidential nature of the will you claim to possess or any others for that matter has been severely compromised, to the extent that our client has instructed us to inform you that she does not wish to participate in any related process,” said Sarah, in a letter dated September 19, 2019, written by her lawyer.
She insisted that any will set to be executed on behalf of her late husband must be proved through an appropriate application to the High Court.
“Our client is well aware, that any purported wills must be proved through an appropriate application to the High Court for probate to determine their validity. In the circumstances, we have been instructed not to attend the proposed opening of the will,” the letter further read.
It later emerged out that Sarah Wairimu is not listed as an heir to any of Tob Cohen’s multi-million shilling empire .Below are the details of the will :
50% of estate Cohen’s Sister
25% of estate Cohen’s Niece
25% of estate Cohen’s Nephew
Bank account balance – Cohen’s Sister
However ,the widow’s counsel vowed to challenge the will in court .
Sarah Wairimu had earlier been involved in a tussle in the release of the late tycoon’s body for burial but they agreed with Cohen’s family to bury him on Monday subject to obtaining court order allowing wife to attend .
