Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa has sensationally claimed politician Boni Khalwale was behind the late Mutunga MP Justus Murunga’s paternity case.
He said Khalwale used Agnes Wambiri Wangui who had moved to court to stop the MP’s burial and demanded a DNA test on his remains to ascertain the paternity of her two kids.
Addressing mourners during Murunga’s burial at his Lugari home on Saturday, December 5, Echesa claimed Wangui had been advised by Khalwale to proceed with the court case.
He also said it was Khalwale who paid for the legal services offered to Wangui and even asked for KSh 200,000 from the family so that the matter could be settled to allow for internment.
“You saw all that happened on TV about the woman who went to court to stop the burial. When I heard about, I called Khadija who told me we cannot proceed with the burial plans because of a court order,
One of Murunga’s friends, Khalwale, was the one who hired a lawyer for the said woman. Later on, he called one of the widows asking for KSh 200k to drop the case,” he told mourners.
“Surely, a widow who has just lost her husband?” he wondered out loud.
Echesa expressed his disappointment in Khalwale whom he claimed he had plucked from political cold and introduced to Deputy President William Ruto.
“My brother Khalwale with due respect, I am the one who held your hands and took you to DP Ruto’s office. I want to tell you today, all that you have done to Wanga community is forgiven. We forgive you,” he added.
In a court document, Wangui maintained that the two minors were indeed biological children of the deceased.
She claimed that they were lovers with the late legislator for seven years and begun a romantic relationship in March 2013 where they were blessed with two children.
“The deceased and I have known each other for seven years now. I first encountered him in the year 2012, when he was a supervisor at Embakasi Ranching, while I was a businesswoman engaged in vendition of beverages and snacks within Sewage area, Ruai,” she added.
