Citizen TV has cancelled one of its popular program Machachari after airing for 13 years. The show used to air every Friday from 7:30 pm.
The program started as a kid’s show and mainly revolved around the daily lives and relationships of young children from the ghetto. Unfortunately, the young kids who used to keep viewers glued to the screens have outgrown their characters and are now grown-ups, a major reason why the show had to be cancelled.
According to the station’s Production Manager Stanley Ngige, the show didn’t evolve to remain relevant to the target audience and therefore had to develop the story to come to an end.
“The story came to an end. This Friday is the grand finale. It didn’t evolve to remain relevant to the target audience. The best we could do is develop the story to come to an end so that we can start a new show for the target audience. The media house will still support the Machachari crew. One of the actors such as Baha has grown to be a producer of his own content. Working with the crew was a really great experience. Seeing them grow up and become professionals and attract advertisements for TV was amazing,” said Ngige.
