Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has been set free in the attempted murder case against Felix Orinda alias DJ Evolve.
The ruling was delivered on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, after the court allowed the withdrawal of the case by DJ Evolve.
Owino will, however, be prosecuted in the second count of behaving disorderly while carrying a firearm.
Magistrate Bernard Ochoi discharged Owino following an out of court settlement with DJ evolve.
In March 2021, a Nairobi court ordered the full disclosure of the details of a reconciliation deal reportedly arrived at between the Embakasi East MP and DJ Evolve.
Principal Magistrate Benard Ochoi was delivering a ruling on Evolve’s petition to withdraw the attempted murder charges levelled against the MP when he gave the directive.
The magistrate ruled that the application did not meet the threshold, but maintained avenues for further engagements.
Then in July the same year, the court heard that the Orinda family and Owino had made “tremendous progress” in their engagements and there were only a few documents remaining that they are needed in order to facilitate an out of court settlement.
The MP, who is charged with the attempted murder of DJ Evolve after he shot him in the neck at B-Club in Kilimani last year January 20, was at the time out on bail.
