An arrest warrant has been issues against Wema Sepetu for jumping bail. The renowned Tanzanian actress and former ex to bongo star Diamond Platnumz, might be spending sleepless nights behind bars very soon.
Kisutu Resident Magistrate Maira Kasonde issues the arrest warrant for Wema after failing to appear in court for hearing of case where she faces charges of being found in possession of illegal drug marijuana.
State Attorney Sylvia Mitano argued that Wema failed to appear in court as well as her surety, and had been released earlier upon fulfilling the demands of the court to have two sureties. Wema was found in possession of the drug back in 2017 and the case has never been closed since then.
According to Wema’s lawyer Ruben Simwanza, the Tanzanian actress was in court as required but suddenly fell ill and had to be rushed to the hospital. However, the judge didn’t buy his explanation, and went ahead to issue an arrest warrant.
“If she came to court and left without informing the court, how will the court know that indeed she was in the premises?” Judge Kasonde pointed out before issuing an arrest warrant
The case was adjourned until July 4, 2019.
