Retired President Daniel arap Moi will be laid to rest on Wednesday at his Kabarak Home.
By Tuesday morning, final preparations at his gravesite had already been completed as the military officers raced against time to ensure all other things were set for the burial.
But even as the burial of the former head of State and former commander in chief follows the military precision while balancing Kalenjin traditions, the question that lingers on many people’s mind is how the late Moi will be laid to rest.
It has now emerged that the late Moi will be laid to rest with a list of items as per the military precision.
Ex-air force officer, now a security consultant, Mwenda Mbijiwe, disclosed to Standard digital several things that will be done during the Late Moi’s burial, among them the number of things he will be buried with.
According to Mbijiwe, the late Moi being a retired commander in chief will not be buried in military regalia but some items will be in his casket as he is laid to rest.
“He will not be buried in military uniform. But his military dress (hat, shoes belt and uniform) will be in the casket. The uniform, as well as the flag draping the coffin, will be removed by the pallbearers.
The laying of wreaths will be done by the officers. And there will be a fly-past salute by fighter jets and there could be helicopter gunships,” he said.

The late Moi was a man who never missed his signature ‘rungu’ as he walked and travelled within and without the country.
During the last two days of his body viewing at Parliament buildings, the ‘rungu’ was placed on his hands with his Bible, which he always had during his regular church services, also put beside him.
Though many may wonder whether Moi’s signature ‘rungu’ and the bible will be buried with him, that is yet to be confirmed.
Moi will be accorded appropriate civilian and full military honours during his burial on Wednesday at his Kabarak home in respect to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s declaration on Tuesday last week.
Unlike the first president Mzee Kenyatta, Moi will receive 19-gun salute and not 21 as his predecessor since the former is only given to heads of state who pass on while serving as CICs.
Moi s expected to be buried in the afternoon as per the Kalenjin culture on Wednesday.
