The fake gold scandal saga has started having ripple effects on Kenyans working in Middle East after reports emerged that several hotels in Dubai sacked Kenyan workers.
Kenyans involved in the saga are said to have posed as international gold merchants and conned UAE ruler Sheikh Al Maktoum Ksh 4 billion having told him they will sell him gold from Democratic republic of Congo.
Last week reports indicated that the UAE ruler had written to President Uhuru Kenyatta that Kenyans working in Dubai and Qatar will be expelled if they he didn’t get his gold or the money.
With reports indicating the gold has already been delivered to the buyer, one will be forgiven to think that Kenyans working in Middle East won’t lose their jobs. Unfortunately it seems that isn’t the case.
According to Robert Alai, one of the most controversial bloggers in Kenya, 3 hotels in Dubai have started sacking Kenyans as a result of diplomatic tiff between the leaders of the respective nations.
This is what Alai said;
“Some 3 Dubai hotels ordered to sack Kenyans working in the hotels. Seems like this is going to be a serious fight!”
Several senior politicians have been implicated, and all we can hope for is for Kenyans working in Middle East to be safe.
