A 21-year-old man from Kasarani, Nairobi, has committed suicide by slitting his throat.
According to a report by the Star, the deceased cut his throat using a chainsaw on Tuesday morning.
The deceased is said to have picked the chainsaw from a workshop run by his father and went with it to their house where he took his life.
The reason that led to the young man taking his own life is yet to be established.
Police officers arrived at the scene and took the deceased body to the morgue even as they continue with the investigations to unravel the motive of the incident.
The incident comes at a time when suicide cases in the country are on the rise.
According to data released by DCI, at least 500 people committed suicide in March and June of 2021 in separate incidences.
These cases raise alarm in the country with Kenyans being urged to seek alternative dispute resolution mechanisms before taking away their lives.
The police service has also been greatly affected by suicide cases given that several police officers have resorted to suicide and killing others as a result of depression.
President Uhuru Kenyatta recently urged the officers to consult when depressed to avoid the increasing cases even as he stated that his government is committed to solving their needs.
